About

I write about film, fashion, girls, various forms of nostalgia, stuff that’s almost (but not quite) cheesy, etc. I live in New York and have a BA in Cinema Studies and Literature from SUNY Purchase and a MS in Library Science from Pratt. My work has appeared in The Washington Post, Time Out New York, Sight & Sound, The Village Voice (RIP), and many other publications. I write a monthly film and fashion column, “Costume Party,” for Nylon. I’ve also written booklet essays for Blu-ray releases of Camille Claudel and The Bells of St. Mary’s. In addition to writing, I’ve worked at a selection of media archives, cataloging everything from pictures of ’60s and ’70s rock stars to tapes of Mob Wives, and I have extensive experience in social media copywriting and production. An anagram of my name is Babe Be Nerdy, and my favorite colored pencil is Hollywood Cerise.
