Abbey Bender is a New York-based journalist. She has been a Digital Staff Writer for Woman’s World and First for Women since 2022, and primarily writes and edits entertainment pieces. She has over a decade of editorial experience, and her writing on film and fashion has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Filmmaker Magazine, The Village Voice, Time Out New York and other publications.
She has also contributed booklet essays to Blu-ray releases of Camille Claudel, The Bells of St. Mary’s, Showgirls and more, and has an essay featured in the book The Wes Anderson Collection: The French Dispatch. She has previously done social media work for companies like the Criterion Collection and Netflix and archive work for Rolling Stone. She has a BA in Cinema Studies and Literature from SUNY Purchase and an MS in Library and Information Science with a Certificate in Archives from the Pratt Institute.
